Scripture: Colossians 3:13: Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”

Bear with one another and forgive grievances, following the Lord’s forgiveness. Read KJV.

An old grievance can return during a new conversation. We remember what happened and prepare to defend ourselves again. Colossians 3:13 places forgiveness within a life shaped by Christ’s mercy. It asks believers to bring their relationships under the influence of the forgiveness they have received.

Begin by naming the hurt honestly. Ask God for help releasing the desire to retaliate. If a conversation is appropriate, speak clearly about what happened and what needs to change. Forgiveness can be practiced alongside truthful accountability and wise boundaries; restored trust may require time and changed conduct.

You do not have to manufacture an immediate feeling of closeness. Take a sincere step toward a response that honors Christ. Pray for wisdom, seek support when needed, and refrain from rehearsing revenge. The work of forgiveness can begin with a small, honest willingness offered to God.
