Scripture: Psalm 90:14 – “O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days”
The psalmist asks God to satisfy His people with mercy so their days may be filled with rejoicing. A new month can arrive with an uncomfortable question: How much more should I be accomplishing? Before you add another demand to your calendar, consider the prayer in Psalm 90:14. The psalm asks God for mercy amid the brevity and difficulty of human life. Its hope begins with God’s care.
You can start October by receiving that care. Tell God what feels unfinished. Name the concern that followed you into this morning. Ask Him to shape the way you measure a meaningful day. There may be important work ahead, but you do not have to begin by treating yourself as a project that is behind schedule.
Make room for a small act of welcome: read the passage, pray slowly, and greet someone with kindness. Let mercy influence your expectations of yourself and others. This month can become an opportunity to know God more deeply through the life you already have. Before you fill the month with demands, make room for God’s mercy. What is one hope you are bringing to Him today? Save this for your morning pause.
