Psalm 1:3 · KJV
“And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
The tree in Psalm 1 represents a person whose delight is in the Lord’s instruction, as the preceding verse explains. Its roots are near a sustaining supply, and its fruit comes “in his season.” This image directs our attention to the source and character of a faithful life. Its picture of prosperity belongs to that whole life of rootedness in God, rather than a timetable for financial results.
Autumn’s harvest offers an occasion to appreciate what has matured. Spiritual fruit may be a more thoughtful reply, growing generosity, greater honesty in prayer, or the willingness to follow through on a loving commitment. Some of the most meaningful changes are first noticed in the way we treat the person standing in front of us.

Then choose one practice to continue into October:
Reading a passage each morning
Praying for a neighbor
Participating in Christian fellowship
Making time to listen well.
Consistent attention to God’s Word helps our everyday choices take deeper root.
