Scripture: Ephesians 4:29 : “Let no corrupt communication

proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”

Avoid corrupt speech and speak what builds others up according to their needs, giving grace to those who hear. Read KJV. Words can continue affecting someone long after a conversation ends. Ephesians 4:29 asks believers to consider whether their speech builds up and benefits the hearer. This includes the comment we make at home, the message we send at work, and the response we leave online.

Helpful speech can be honest and specific. A difficult truth may need to be spoken, but its wording, timing, and purpose deserve care. Before replying, ask: What does this person need to understand? Am I trying to help, or simply release my frustration?

Practice one useful change today. Give clear appreciation. Correct privately when possible. Remove an unnecessary insult from a disagreement. If you have spoken carelessly, acknowledge it without making excuses. Your words can make room for understanding and encourage someone who is learning. Ask God to help you speak with both truth and grace.
