We often associate excellence with major achievements—a promotion, successful business, published book, large platform, or important project.
But biblical excellence begins much earlier.
Colossians 3:23 teaches us to work heartily as unto the Lord. That principle transforms ordinary responsibilities because it changes the audience for our work.
When our motivation depends entirely upon recognition, our effort often changes according to who is watching. Faithfulness operates differently.
It asks:
What has been entrusted to me today, and how can I handle it well?
Excellence isn’t perfectionism. Perfectionism can leave us afraid to make mistakes. Excellence asks us to bring care, preparation, integrity, and consistent effort to our responsibilities.
Your present assignment may be developing skills your future will require.
Don’t underestimate ordinary work.
Today’s faithfulness may be tomorrow’s preparation.
