Scripture: Psalm 62:8: “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”
Trust God at all times, pour out your heart before Him, and recognize Him as a refuge. Read KJV.
You may have practiced a calm answer for everyone who asks how you are doing. In prayer, you can bring what that answer leaves out. Psalm 62:8 invites God’s people to pour out their hearts before Him. Trust includes the freedom to speak about what is happening within us.
Try beginning with an unfinished sentence: “God, I am concerned about…” or “I wish I understood…” Name anger, disappointment, gratitude, and hope as honestly as you can. You are speaking within a relationship, not submitting a performance for evaluation.
After you have spoken, take a quiet moment and read the psalm again. Consider what trusting God would look like in one practical response. You might seek counsel, make an apology, or ask for support. Honest prayer can help you face a concern with greater clarity and a willingness to receive care.
