Growth creates an uncomfortable problem.
Eventually, something that once fit your life no longer fits.
The mindset that protected you in one season may limit you in another. The routine that once worked may no longer produce growth. Certain relationships may not understand the person you are becoming. Even your own expectations may become too small for what God is developing within you.
Isaiah 54:2 contains an extraordinary command:
Enlarge. Stretch. Lengthen. Strengthen.
Those are action words.
God was telling His people to prepare for expansion before they could see its full manifestation.
That requires faith.
Sometimes we ask God for increase while maintaining habits designed for survival.
We pray for greater opportunities while thinking small.
We ask for growth while refusing to stretch.
We want a larger tent while refusing to move the stakes.
Growth requires preparation.
If you want greater responsibility, strengthen your discipline.
If you want greater influence, strengthen your character.
If you want a stronger business, strengthen its foundation.
If you want healthier relationships, strengthen your boundaries.
If you want greater spiritual maturity, strengthen your relationship with God.
And most importantly, stop shrinking yourself to remain comfortable in spaces you have spiritually, mentally, or professionally outgrown.
Humility does not require making yourself smaller.
You can remain humble while expanding.
You can remain faithful while becoming successful.
You can remain compassionate while establishing boundaries.
You can honor where you came from without being required to remain there forever.
Perhaps this season is not about asking God to make your life easier.
Perhaps it is about allowing Him to make your capacity greater.
